One-Line Bio

I'm a college graduate here in Northern California.

I double majored in Political Science and History at the University of California, Davis.

I'm a life-long Californian, born and bred.

I'm originally from Ben Lomond, California. When people don't know where Ben Lomond is, I just say I'm from Santa Cruz (which is close enough). When people don't know where Santa Cruz is, I say San Francisco (everyone knows that city), even it's an hour away.

My parents were the very definition of Hippies in the 1960s.

My grandmother was a New York-based fashion model in the 1930s and early '40s.

My favorite color is red. Blue is a close second.

I'm third generation American.

I think travelling is the next best thing to a classroom.

I'm of English, Italian, Slovak, and German heritage.

Both my first and last name are really out there.

Anyone who shares the Hookey last name is probably bound to be related to me.

I'm a staunch Lefty Democrat. But I still have Republicans and Greens in my circle.

I donate to Amnesty International USA, the American Red Cross, and UNICEF.

The Godfather is one of my all-time favorite movies. Trainspotting is another favorite.

I have a soft spot for Britpop.

I'm an Anglophile to the tenth power.

I'm a total sucker for Ikea.

Mint and chip is my favorite ice cream.

Guinness is my favorite beer.

I like Smirnoff Ice (yeah, yeah, go ahead and laugh...)

Some of my favorite bands are the Pixies, Radiohead, the Cure, Nirvana, Massive Attack, Portishead, DJ Shadow, Joy Division, Blur, and a ton of others too.

I'd like to go to graduate school someday, but don't know where.

I can't get enough of Lonely Planet.

I have travelled all over the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

I'm a total map dork. I can look at them for hours and be entertained.

I'm a history junkie.

When I look at other photography websites, I get jealous.

Some of my favorite writers are Irvine Welsh, George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, Bill Bryson, Chuck Palahniuk and Thomas Pynchon,

I love coffee (hence the name of the site).

A cafe is always a good place to be.
And Chinese is my favorite food.
